Important Tax Filing Dates - Tax Year 2021
Following are some of the more important tax filing dates for Tax Year 2021
MARCH 15, 2022
S-Corporations (Form 1120-S)
Partnerships (Form 1065)
APRIL 18, 2022 (changed from the 15th)
Individuals (Form 1040); US citizens and green card holders
C Corporations (Form 1120)
JUNE 15, 2022
US Expats (Form 1040)
US Individuals who are living overseas at the due date of the tax return are given an automatic extension of 2 months from the April 15th deadline for Individuals returns.
Individual Non-Residents (Form 1040-NR)
Filing Extensions: Extension requests should be filed PRIOR to the deadlines listed above. An estimate and payment of taxes due is highly suggested if a large amount of tax owed is estimated as to avoid penalties and interest of underpayment of taxes by the due date. The filing of the extension will avoid failure to file penalties, but it does not extend the date by which all taxes due are to be remitted without attracting penalties.
FBAR Reporting: FBAR Form 114 is due on April 15th with an automatic extension to June 15th for US expats living abroad.
